Let's create a treasure coin with Pirate Borg!

A few weeks ago I wrote a post detailing how I generated a Treasure Map for the Pirate Borg Duet campaign I run for my wife. Three weeks ago I continued that by describing how I created the island that map leads to and the pirate captain that's shipwrecked on it. Now it's time to bring the special coin that'll be the main thing to find in the treasure (which will then lead to more adventures) to life.
To do that, I'll use the Coin generator included in Down Among the Dead, the newest Pirate Borg book to come to life.

1. First of all, we roll for the MATERIAL, 2d6: 7, Silver (worth 1s);

2. We then roll for the ORIGIN of this coin, 2d6: 3, Deep One;

3. Next we find out the CONDITION of the coin, d6: 6, Mint;

4. Now we roll for its VALUE, d6: 4, Normal;

5. This is where we roll for the TWIST, d20, but in this case I've already picked 4, Treasure Map, for our purpose; this prompts another roll to determine more details, d8: 5, It's the key required to unlock a door, chest or ancient tome. Interesting!

In theory we could roll more on the Twist table to get an even more interesting coin, but I think that like this it'll be enough. I plan on having this coin lead to the adventure The Treasure of Cutlass Cay by Steven Gibbs, which will in turn lead to The Amulet of Delgado by the same author...should the crew decide to pursue it, obviously!

But the coin's origin being Deep One, ancient and mysterious, and then it being made of just silver doesn't sit right with me, so I went on the following spread of Down Among the Dead, d66 Coins, found the Deep One (62) and decided that this specific coin will be made of greenstone with a (d4: 4) fish on the front side and (d4: 2) weird glyphs on the back. Now it's worthy of being the main attraction of a buried treasure!

As always, feel free to use these contents in your own game, whether it is Pirate Borg or any other TTRPG.

This is all for this week, see you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
