Let's create a Treasure Island and a Pirate Captain with Pirate Borg!
A few weeks ago I wrote a post detailing how I generated a Treasure Map for the Pirate Borg Duet campaign I run for my wife; this week I continue that by reporting how I generated the island that map leads to and the captain of the other crew that is already there, with the help of the Uncharted Islands and Pirate generators in the Pirate Borg rulebook.
1. For the ISLAND, we rolled:
- Size, d6: 1, Tiny;
- Terrain, 2d6: 6, Mostly flat;
- Vegetation, 2d6: 7, Fertile grasslands;
- Prominent natural feature, 2d6: 4, Numerous sea stacks;
- Notable animal inhabitants, 2d6: 8, Pigs and boars (large);
- Inhabitants, 2d6: 10, Farming settlers;
- Best place in the island to hide treasure?, 2d6: 10, A sink hole;
- Anything here worth a fortune?, 2d6: 5, Buried treasure...somewhere [Well, duh! But appropriate];
- Natural Hazards, 2d6: 6, Coral reefs;
- Current conflicts, 2d6: 8, Recent shipwreck, survivors stranded [This could be either the other crew or the farmers...more likely the crew];
- Darkness, 2d6: 10, Zombies walk at night [Something to unite the 2 crews for survival, maybe].
This sounds like a very interesting site for an adventure, now let's create a captain for this rival crew who happened to shipwreck on this island but will still be interested in the treasure.
2. For the CAPTAIN, we rolled:
- Name, d66: 46, Johan/Eleanor;
- Surname, d66: 11, Pérez;
- Nickname, d66x2: 45, Bilge, and 13, Turtle;
- Table A, d12: 9, A rum-drunk goon;
- Table B, d12: 3, With a hook for a hand;
- Table C, d12: 5, Wielding a rusty knife (d4).
So our shipwrecked crew is led by Eleanor Pérez, a rum-drunk goon with a hook for a hand who wields a rusty knife. I guess that's what's left after the shipwreck, poor soul. Her stats are created by using the results of the last 3 tables:
- Morale is the greatest result (9);
- HP is the lowest plus 2 (5);
- Armor is based on which table has the highest result, in our case (A) it means No armor.
And here we are! The adventure is basically ready to be played, but I also used the Coin generator included in the newest Pirate Borg book, Down Among the Dead, to create the coin which will be found within this treasure that will lead to a future adventure. I'll detail that process in a future post. As always, feel free to use these contents (the island and/or the captain) in your own game, whether it is Pirate Borg or any other TTRPG.
