Caribbean Tales (solo Pirate Borg) - Episode 16
The following is part 16 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. You can start with episode 1 here. Let's dive right in!

-Well, I'm glad I sent you there then, said Pedro. What's your name, my friend?
-Sam.
-I'm sure you'll have a great time in Miranda's crew, Sam. Just don't forget the rules! But, Pedro continued, bringing his attention back to the Captain, let's leave aside pleasantries and cut to the chase: I'm guessing what Sam's holding is Hector's treasure.
Your guess is correct, nodded Ramirez, can you also guess what's inside it?
Pedro paused for a moment, clearly surprised by the question. As I told you when I offered you the job, Hector always kept it a secret from me. For my own good, he said, so I wouldn't be attacked by anyone looking for it; even the map he only gave me after he was sure the end was near. What I hope it is is enough to allow me to live the last years of my life decently; after subtracting your share, obviously.
-Well, all we'll share will be disappointment then. Show him, guys.
White approached the chest Sam was holding and quickly opened it, revealing its content to Pedro, whose hand instantly raised to cover his mouth as his eyes filled with tears. That idiot...may I?
Following a nod from the Captain Sam put the chest on the table, grateful to be relieved of its weight. Pedro approached the letters very slowly, almost as if scared of finding out they weren't real. Instead of reading them he touched them ever so slightly, murmuring words the others couldn't understand while doing so.
Captain Ramirez gave him a couple of minutes before clearing her throat, successfully bringing him back to the present.
-Ah, yes, sorry, I...I got lost in distant memories. But while for me this is the most precious treasure in the world, it's unfair to you and what I promised you. He quickly wiped the tears off of his face. You deserve to be rewarded for all you've done, but I don't - ah, wait, I have an idea! He wagged his finger in front of his face, then he reached into his pocket, plucking a sheet of paper from it. I've been told by trusted sources the Spanish are trying to double-cross the British and secretly get an alliance with the French. To that end, one of the ships in port here in Havana, the "Luna de Sangre", is carrying the French aristocrat Marquis Le Fèvre, formally a British prisoner they took to escort to Port Royal, back to Guadeloupe as a sign of good will. Now, if anything were to happen to that prisoner while he's under Spanish custody, and especially if it looked like, and here his eyes darted for a moment towards Sam, the British were responsible for it...that would put a big ol' wrench in any truce between any of the three powers.
