Caribbean Tales (solo Pirate Borg) - Episode 14

The following is part 14 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. You can start with episode 1 here. Let's dive right in!

The Captain turned towards her companions. Stay close to me, don't say anything unless I tell you to, and most importantly don't make eye contact with anyone on our way to Pedro: always look in front of you and stay focused. Do you understand?
Sam and White exchanged a worried glance; out of the whole crew, they felt they were the least suitable for that task. Nonetheless, they both turned back to the Captain and nodded stiffly.
-Bueno. Let's go then. She pushed open the tavern's door with her shoulder and in that moment the stink coming from inside made Sam flinch. Had he not spent the last few days on The Shriek he might've fainted on the spot; White was suddenly as pale as his robe. But they didn't have time to brace themselves, for Captain Ramirez was already inside.
El Burro Loco was a very crowded establishment, full of people in the midst of a war against soap, judging by the smell that attacked Sam's nostrils. The heat and humidity of the place didn't help with that.
Sam focused on the back of the Captain's head and tried to push all the noises (and there were a lot of them) out of his mind, but when the boom of a flintlock pistol covered everything else and the bullet flew right past his ear he almost dropped the chest and instinctively looked around to find out who shot at him: it wasn't hard to spot the man in the big green coat with the pistol in one hand and a glass of beer in the other. Half of its content was spilled on the man's shirt, who could've otherwise been defined as sharply dressed with his black silk trousers and unusually tall tricorne hat.
-Hey mister, he slurred while his drunk eyes tried to focus on Sam where are you going with my treasure?
In the blink of an eye Ramirez was in front of him. Cut it, Bernard, he's with me.
The drunk gunman laughed raucously as he put his weapon back in its holster. My apologies, milady. I thought it was just a random newbie I could have fun with. He ended this surprisingly coherent sentence with a loud belch.
-Better luck next time, Billy. Ramirez turned her back to Bernard and gently pushed Sam's arm, her voice barely a whisper. Keep walking and don't look back if you want to live. Sam felt the need to go back and defend his honor, but he didn't dare defy his Captain, who was clearly in control of the situation. White followed them barely hiding his shaking.

This is it for this episode, I hope you enjoyed it! I'll continue in the near future.
See you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
