Caribbean Tales (solo Pirate Borg) - Episode 11

The following is part 11 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. You can start with episode 1 here. Let's dive right in!

Brother Bilge then turned to Sam and burst into a surprisingly loud laugh for a man his size. You should see your face, mate! Le me explain: this is something we do every time someone joins the crew; we bet about their reaction when they first see The Shriek, and the winners get to do only half work on the ship for a week at the expense of the losers. It's fun! You'll try it next time.
-When did you even have time to do the bets? Sam asked, dumbfounded. We were together the whole time!
Bilge chuckled. Oh, most of the crew already did when we were first talking. I added mine while you were talking to White.
Sam turned to the robed man: What did you bet?
-Oh, I never take part in this activity, replied White, it goes against my moral principles.
-Hold on tight to those, you're the only one of us who still has any said Captain Ramirez, suddenly appearing between them. She was holding what looked like a bundle of dirty rags in her hand, and she pushed it in Sam's hands. It turned out to be a wig.
-Put this on, you look hideous without hair she said before turning her back on him and marching towards the ship.
Sam stared at the new "gift" he just received for a moment, then turned to Brother Bilge.
-Do I also get to do half work because I made you win the bet?
After another thunderous laugh Bilge replied You're the newbie! You'll work harder than everyone. He then proceeded to get on the ship, followed by the rest of the crew.
The last of them was the heavily tattooed man, who patted Sam's back. Thanks for taking over, newbie. You'll love it he said before joining the others, leaving Sam alone for a moment.
Almost alone he thought, looking at Catherine's ghost.
One deep breath, then he joined his new crew, ready to begin a crazy new chapter of his life.

This week, to add to my series of character creation posts (which started a few weeks ago with a Cairn 2e character ), I'll make a Fabula Ultima  character. This game, which is presented as a TTJRPG, takes inspiration from Japanese RPG videogames such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Xenoblade Chronicles (among others). Let's create a monster in Cairn 2e!

This week I'll go back to Cairn 2e after creating a PC for it a few weeks ago . This time I'll follow the procedure presented in Cairn 2e's Warden's Guide  to create a monster in just a few simple steps, strating by (you guessed it) rolling on some random tables, in the best OSR tradition.   Let's start with the Monster Appearance  table, which asks us to roll a d20 twice, once for  Physique  and once for  Feature : Physique : 5, Eyeless ; Feature : 20,  Wings. So it's some form of bat.   Next, we have the  Monster Traits  table, for  Quirk  and  Weakness : Quirk : 6, Draws symbols ;  Weakness : 12,  Music . Ok, I'm getting ideas. Maybe it's some kind of familiar, drawing symbols on preys for its master, but music distracts it, preventing it from following orders? Not sure yet. The Fellow Manifesto

A while ago I was watching  this video  about Sword World, the TTRPG that was created in Japan when TSR refused to let them publish Replays (basically their version of Session Reports) with their official names - specifically for the campaign that then became known as Record of Lodoss War, a fascinating story - but one thing that stood out to me of the system was the concept of Fellows, which is what this post is about. But what are Fellows? To learn more about them I found the unofficial English translation of the game (easily found on Reddit,  here ). I'll use that as a reference, but I'll modify it a bit to make it work with OSR games. In short, to quote the Rulebook: Fellows are characters who assist the PCs in their adventures.
