Let's create a Dukk Borg character!
This week I'll continue my character creation series, continuing the series of Borg-like games characters made for a future project of mine. These will be alternating with other kinds of posts, like my solo campaigns recaps and some gameable content coming from my Duet Pirate Borg home game.
This time we're going with Dukk Borg by Gem Room Games, a Ducktales-inspired Borg game. Once I found out about it, I had to try it, so...let's begin!
1. First of all, let's roll for our CLASS, d4: 4, The Devotee (a young member of the clan with a passion for adventure...basically the nephews);
2. Next we roll for our ABILITIES, 3d6 each in order (as usual) adjusted by our class' modifier:
-Agility: 12+1=13 => +1
-Presence 8 => -1 (but the DR for all PRES tests is reduced by 2)
-Strength 10-2=8 => -1
-Tuffness 12 => 0;
3. Our class gives us a few EXTRA rolls to make:
-Favorite color, d4: 4, Pink;
-Nuts and Bolts, begin with, d8: 1, Tome of a dead clan's lineage;
-Starting money, 2d6x10s: 70s;
-Omens, d4: 4;
-HP, Tuffness+d6: 0+2=2;
4. Now it's time to roll our STARTING EQUIPMENT:
-A water jug;
-Food, d4 days worth of: 4;
-Storage solution, d6: 4, Sack with a dollar sign (can hold 10 items);
-Odds & Ends, d12: 9, Goose trap (PRES DR14 to spot, d8 damage);
-Lucky finds, d12: 6, Toolbox (10 nails, tongs, hammer, small saw and drill);
-Armor, d4: 2, Light (-d2 damage);
-Weapon, d10: 6, Golf club (d6);
5. Our next rolls will define our character's IDENTITY:
-Animal type, d12: 1, Duck;
-Title, d6: 3, Cousin;
-Name, d66: 32, Germanata;
6. Lastly we roll our CLAN's information, something that in a party would be done together to tie the various character to the same family:
-Clan name, d10 twice: 9 10, El Duck;
-Clan colors, d20 twice: 17 6, Oxblood & feldgrau (spelled felgrau in the book);
-Clan coat of arms, d12 thrice:
- 9, Standing corpse
- 5, Twisting horns
- 10, Crashing shields
-Clan History, d6: 4, Your clan has long been beset by vehicle-sabotaging gremlins, and only the hardiest have survived the crashes to beget future generations. Gain +1 Tuffness, all piloting tests are +2 DR.
And here we are! Cousin Germanata El Duck is the result of our process. One thing I love about this game is the Clan generation procedure, tying all characters of the party as members of the same family (which is obviously inspired by the original material, but it's a very clever way to turn it into a game mechanic). I look forward to playing this character, maybe trying to fight the clan's generational gremlin curse.
This is all for this week, see you next Sunday for my next post!
