Caribbean Tales (solo Pirate Borg) - Episode 4

The following is part 3 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. You can start with episode 1 here. Let's dive right in!

-Anyway, why are you on this island? And where are we going now? asked Sam.
-Oh, this is a good one! We're here to loot a treasure! And not just any treasure, no sir: we're about to find the one and only treasure of Captain Morel, who he hid 15 years ago.
-Captain Morel? I thought that was just a myth.
-Oh no, Sam! He definitely existed. Captain Morel was among the first Europeans to reach these shores; he was present when the dead started coming back, and shortly after he left the Spanish Armada and became one of the first pirates.
Eventually the Spanish got him and executed him, but they never managed to find his treasure. It was thought that it got lost to the sea when Morel was captured, but it turns out he hid it before getting caught! Our Captain managed to meet Pedro, Morel's old partner, who managed to escape from his prison in Havana just a month ago; he had a map given him by Morel himself shortly before the end leading to the treasure. He hired us to retrieve it, offering a share of the loot in return. The map pointed to this island, luckily for you.
-Wait a minute, why didn't he come here himself, then?
-Because he's the only surviving member of Morel's crew, he's quite old now and he swore to never sail the seas again, after everything that happened to him and Morel. Better for us, I'd say.
Meanwhile the crew had reached a clearing and stopped. Captain Ramirez was ooking around while holding what must've been Morel's map; after a minute she nodded and turned to the rest of the crew. This should be the place, amigos. Time to start digging.
A few member of the crew, shovels in their hands, got closer to the Captain when Sam, feeling something wasn't right, looked towards her and asked loudly Don't you think something's off, Captain?
If looks could kill, Samuel's life would've ended right then and there. He could almost see daggers shooting in his direction from the Captain's eyes. The rest of the crew seemed to hold their breath as their pupils darted back and forth between Sam and the Captain.
After a few moments Brother Bilge put himself between the two and broke the silence, saying Permission to speak, Captain?
Ramirez slowly lowered her head to look at him, then nodded even more slowly.
-It's my fault. Captain, I'm sorry, continued BB. I was explaining him what we're doing here and have not explained the Rules yet. I'll do it immediately.
The Captain stared at him for a moment, although her face seemed more pondering than aggressive now, then she nodded again before turning back to the rest of the crew to say I thought I told you to start digging. She didn't scream, it was barely more than a whisper, but those holding shovels almost ran to start their job.
Confused and with his pride slightly hurt, Sam turned to Bilge, who immediately grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the group.
-I am an idiot! First the rules, THEN the rest. Well better get to it.

This is it for this episode, I hope you enjoyed it! I'll continue in the near future.
See you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
