Let's create an Orc Borg character!

This week I'll continue my character creation series, continuing the series of Borg-like games characters made for a future project of mine. These will be alternating with other kinds of posts, like my solo campaigns recaps and some gameable content coming from my Duet Pirate Borg home game.

This time we're going with Orc Borg by Grant Howitt, a Borg hack set in a spaceship full of orcs whose dungeons are floating in space and sometimes randomly crash into said spaceship. The concept alone sold me on it! As it has happened other times, I'll be using the Italian version of the game for this character creation, so some table results may vary here and there. Now, without further ado, let's begin!

1. First of all, let's pick our CLASS: in this game you can only be an Orc or an Orcborg, so I chose to go Orc Borg to see more of what the game has to offer;

2. Now it's time to roll our ABILITIES, which this game allows to assign after rolling (as you can see from the picture, I started with the idea of rolling in order, but eventually swapped two because the character was becoming more of a ranged attacker and spellcaster):
-Agility: 9 => 0
-Presence: 18 => +3
-Strength: 11 => 0
-Toughness: 11 => 0;

3. Our HP is d8 + Toughness = 1 + 0 => 1, while our MIRACLES (this game's Omens) are d2 = 2;

4. It's time to roll for our ORIGINS and APPEARANCE:
-Origins, d8: 6, Your clan's in disgrace due to insufficient faith; you desperately want to prove your devotion;
-Physical Appearance, d12x2: 10, Stupid face, and 12, a weapon substitutes your hand (d6+1 to know which one: 5+1 => 6, Pistol [d6 damage]);
-Orcborg Origins, d6: 4, Robotic messiah of an obsolete cult of the END;

5. Then we roll a few times for our GEAR:
-We start with 3d6 tek (this game's money): 10t;
-Stuff, 3d20: 20, a random technomancer rune (I already get one from my class, so now I have two, I'll roll for them in a moment), 15, a spray paint can, and 16, a Nail gun (d6 damage) with d20 nails: 4;
-Armor, d2 (because I have runes): 1, None (but a +1 to attack...unarmed, I assume?);
-Technomancy, 2d10: 5, Download Cornucopia (which gives me free 3d printed food for 3 orcs), which is installed in the belly and requires only a DR10 to use, and 7, Icharus Matrix (which allows me to suspend without gravity a target for 10 rounds);
-Extra gear from my class, d6: 4, Electric hands (d4 damage), which allows me to make a DR12 Strength test to grab an enemy and make them drop everything they're holding as they're shaken by spasms;

6. Lastly, we need a NAME for our Orcborg, but sadly there isn't a generator in the book, so...Klarg it is.

And we're done! Although not as in-depth as some other Borg games, Orc Borg gives us enough background to work with (and we were lucky to roll two that can tie together) that I'll probably be able to come up with something for their quest.

Oh also, it didn't come up in character creation, but I have to mention that this rulebook contains rule to create and fight with mechs! That's definitely something I'd like to try!

This is all for this week, see you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
