Let's create a Cy_Borg character!
This week I'll continue my character creation series, marking the beginning (like I said in my year recap post) of a series of Borg-like games characters made for a future project of mine. These will be alternating with other kinds of posts, like my solo campaigns recaps and some gameable content coming from my Duet Pirate Borg home game.
For the first one, we'll start with Cy_Borg, the cyberpunk version of Mork Borg created by Christian Sahlén and Johan Nohr of Stockholm Kartell. As any Borg game, character creation (and the game itself) is fast and dripping with style. As with other games before, I'll be using the Italian version of the game, so some tables might be translated slightly differently. Let's begin!
1. We start by rolling a d6 for our CLASS: 6, Forsaken Gang-goon, someone who used to be part of a gang but is not anymore. Why? The dice will tell us soon! We roll 3d6-2 for our Strength and get a reduced difficulty to all Presence and Agility tests. Not bad.
2. It's now time to roll our STATS:
- Agility: 9, +0;
- Knowledge: 14, +1;
- Presence: 7, -1;
- Strength: 5-2=3, -3;
- Toughness: 7, -1.
3. We continue by rolling a few more things:
- HP: Toughness + d6, 6-1= 5;
- Glitches (Cy_Borg's equivalent of Omens or Devil's Luck), d3: 2;
- Weapon, d6: 1 = broken bottle, brick or knife (d3 damage), I choose a knife;
- Armor, d2: 1 = no armor.
4. Next we have a couple of class-related rolls:
- My gang, d6: 4 = went to G0 due to religious fervor, leaving me and other skeptics behind;
- My specialty, d6: 6 = Assaults, start with one starting weapon per hand, every round you can make a second attack at DR 14.
5. Now we roll MONEY & GEAR:
- We start with 2d6x10 creds (this game's money): 90;
- Gear table 1, d8: 8 = A stolen taxi with a fake or removed transponder, which can trigger alarms in high security areas;
- Gear table 2, d12: 4 = A respirator, which lets us breathe underwater or in areas filled with gas;
- Gear table 3, d12: 6 = An Optic Camo Suit with d6 uses: 6;
- Our Starting debt is 3d6x100: 11000 creds, with d12: 4, a gang led by my childhood bully.
6. We have a few OPTIONAL TABLES to flesh out our character:
- Style, d100: 56, Mobwave (whatever it means);
- Trait, d100: 93, Customized voicebox;
- Want, d20: 7, Fun;
- Quirk, d20: 9, Always looks at holograms;
- Current Obsession, d100: 100, Virtual Friends.
We only need a NAME and we're done! We roll a d66 for it: 2 6, Hira.
I already have an idea for the story of this character, but I'll talk about it when I get to my solo campaign project. For now, we are done!
This is all for this week, see you next Sunday for my next post!
