Caribbean Tales (solo Pirate Borg) - Episode 2

The following is part 2 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. You can find episode 1 here. Let's dive right in!

He closed his eyes and started running, not caring where he was going or about any danger he could meet.
Nothing could be worse than that.
He ran and screamed, screamed and ran, trying to suppress any thought his brain might have; his thoughts seemed to have a different voice, but it didn't matter. Not in that moment.
All of a sudden he ran into what felt like a massive stone wall, hitting it so hard he bounced and rolled backwards, ending face down on the ground. He tried to open his eyes, but everything was still black. He was definitevely alive, though; he was in too much pain to be dead. He was vaguely aware of voices around him, but it was hard to determine whether they were coming from outside or inside his head.
Bit by bit his vision returned and he dared lift his head. It turned out what he had run into was not a wall or the side of a mountain, but rather a...woman? Yes, that was a woman. Over two meters tall and with shoulders so broad Sam would barely be able to touch both her arms while standing in front of her, but a woman nonetheless.
And Catherine right beside her.
Only one thought went through his mind in that moment, as his eyes darted between the giant figure in front of him and the apparition of the woman he loved: This is it, it's the end for me.
Well well well, what do we have here? The voice came from somewhere behind the mountain. It had a vaguely Spanish accent, and it belonged to a vaguely Spanish-looking woman who was calmly making her way into his field of view. She nonchalantly pointed her musket at him and said You have ten seconds to give me a reason to let you live.
Sam spent the first second looking at the newcomer and the other nine on Catherine. Nothing made sense anymore; he was ready to go.
The woman followed his gaze, then lowered her weapon. You don't value your life anymore, hombre. Rather than throwing it away, why don't you spend whatever you have left at my service? I'm Captain Ramirez.
That was unexpected.
Before saying anything Samuel slowly got up. The massive woman had moved to the side, and he could now see the mixed assortment of people standing in front of him. The captain was wearing a Spanish uniform, but everyone else was wearing different clothing, from a young boy covered in rags to the muscular woman he first saw who, he finally noticed, was wearing what looked like high quality fabric. A pirate crew, clearly.
Was he willing to become a pirate? Or rather, did he have a choice? It didn't seem like it, at the moment, so he raised his chin and met the Captain's eyes.
I'm in.

This is it for this episode, I hope you enjoyed it! I'll continue in the near future.
See you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
