Solo Pirate Borg - Episode 1

The following is part 1 of my solo Pirate Borg campaign. It focuses mainly around the character I created in this post, which was so interesting to me that it prompted me to set up a whole solo campaign. Let's dive right in!

Samuel Robert Thomas screamed as he kicked a seashell into the sea.
After ten years, ten long and painfully obedient years serving in the Royal Navy, all he had to show was a dirty uniform and a fishing rod, which had been given to him as a favor by Captain Ellis. To give you a chance to survive, he said.
How the hell was he supposed to survive alone on a desert island? And even if by some miracle he managed to get back to civilization, he was also a wanted man with a bounty on his head! Sure, it wasn't a big one, but still!
And, last but not least, they shaved his head! Ok, maybe it was the least important thing among those listed, but it still bothered him; he'd never forget the faces of those he considered his comrades in arms laughing while two men held him by the arms and a third one cut all of his hair- He swore he'd get revenge, one day. As a ghost, if needed.
And it was starting to look like that would be his destiny. He didn't want to leave the beach where the Royal Fregate left him, but he had to try and find some food. Actually, come to think of it, he had never had to forage for food before in his life; would he be able to find enough to survive? Or anything at all? Only one way to find out: he grabbed the fishing rod in one hand, Catherine's dress in the other, and headed into the jungle, unarmed and hungry.
The vegetation was very thick so Sam had so advance slowly, but he felt he was making progress. The weird thing was that he couldn't hear any other creature: he wasn't sure whether to be relieved or worried about that. For the moment he decided to be relieved...and not think about it too much.
After about 15 minutes he reached a sort of clearing where a single, powerful ray of sunshine was illuminating a small object as if it wanted to capture his attention. The smart thing to do would've been to make a detour and keep at least a mile between himself and whatever that was, rationally he knew that, but in the situation he was in thinking wasn't exactly the first of his priorities; also, he suddenly felt compelled to get closer.
Just a few steps and he was there. It appeared to be a little piece of parchment...maybe a treasure map? Could it be that his luck was finally coming back? Sam bent over to try to read it...
...and a jolt of energy surged through his brain.
Samuel didn't scream, he didn't seem to be able to; he immediately sprang back up, suddenly aware, somehow, of a presence right behind him. He slowly turned, finding himself face to face with Catherine herself.
No. It couldn't be. He had seen her body, and that was after the Dark Carribean's curse had been taken care of.
She couldn't be there.
His brain froze in a mix of panic, disbelief and excitement, and he just stood there for a full minute, not even sure whether he was breathing.
Catherine for sure wasn't.
Then it was time to scream.

This is it for this episode, I hope you enjoyed it! I'll continue in the near future.
See you next Sunday for my next post!

May your dice never betray you,
Kirhon
